The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia partnered with South Philadelphia’s Resident Action Committee II for an inaugural Community Resource and Job Fair.
More than 150 job seekers attended the August 19 event at The Salvation Army’s Central Corps Community Center in Grays Ferry. The Community Resource and Job fair aimed to provide local residents with full-time entry-level employment opportunities that require a high school diploma or associates degree.
Resident Action Committee II is a local group which seeks to infuse the Grays Ferry neighborhood with jobs and resources to address high unemployment and poverty rates.
More than 40 companies and community agencies were on-hand for the event, including Philadelphia Gas Works, United Postal Service, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia International Airport, Santander Bank, Fresh Grocer, Philadelphia Police Department Recruit Unit, and the Philadelphia Fire Department.
