The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia kicked-off the start of its 2017 Red Kettle Campaign on November 15 with a huge celebration at The Shops at Liberty Place, with help from our friends at Herr’s, as well as 6abc, CBS 3, NBC 10, Fox 29 and WMGK-FM!
Herr’s generously provided the first donation to the holiday campaign with a gift of $25,000! Herr’s CEO & President, Ed Herr presented the check to our Major Phil Ferreira. The Salvation Army’s brass ensemble played festive holiday music. TV News personalities and students from our Soup’s On! Project served free delicious soup to passersby.
The iconic tradition of bell ringers and red kettles is the most recognizable fundraising effort for The Salvation Army. All donations collected throughout the annual campaign will fund local programs that provide opportunities and change lives year round. Passersby can place monetary donations inside the red kettles, which will be stationed in prominent locations throughout the Philadelphia area until December 23. Credit card donations may be made securely by visiting www.SaPhilly.org or by texting the word SHARE to 41444.
