Wells Fargo Provides Holiday Cheer to 200+ Families Residing in Homeless Shelters

DareToDreamMore than 200 parents and children residing in Philadelphia area homeless shelters were treated to a special lunch and free tickets to Disney on Ice, thanks to a community partnership between Wells Fargo and The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia. Families who attended the December 23 event reside at The Salvation Army’s Red Shield Residence, Eliza Shirley House and Norristown Family Shelter, as well as the St. Barnabas Mission Emergency Shelter. After a buffet lunch at each shelter, the families boarded buses to the Wells Fargo Center for an afternoon viewing of Disney on Ice Dare to Dream. This is the third year in a row that Wells Fargo has provided a special Christmas celebration for families served by The Salvation Army and other local agencies. 

“Wells Fargo is proud of our long-time partnership with the Salvation Army which is focused on strengthening neighborhoods throughout the greater Philadelphia community. Each December we look forward to doing something extra special that will brighten the holidays for families served by the Salvation Army,” said Aldustus (A.J.) Jordan, Senior Vice President & Community Affairs Manager, Wells Fargo.

In addition to the holiday celebration, Wells Fargo donated $50,000 to The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia’s Red Kettle fundraising campaign.  All donations collected from the annual holiday campaign fund programs that provide opportunities in underserved neighborhoods and change lives year round.

Philip Ferreira, Director of Operations, The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia. “This celebration will provide joy to families who are struggling with difficult circumstances in their lives.”

Since 1879, The Salvation Army has provided assistance during the holiday season to enable the less fortunate to celebrate Christmas. The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia anticipates serving more than 20,000 Philadelphians with holiday meals, gifts and basic necessities this year.
