The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia’s Be Your Best program celebrated the conclusion of the 9-week session with a ceremonial tea party at The Sofitel Philadelphia on June 8, 2018. Dressed in their finest, the girls arrived in a limo and walked the red carpet just like celebrities!
The theme for this year’s event was “Shine.” Lorina Marshall Blake, President of the Independence Blue Cross Foundation and Vice President, Community Affairs, Independence Blue Cross, served as keynote speaker.
The Be Your Best program teaches young women, ages 9 – 15, about etiquette and manners. From the collective lineup of guest speakers, the young women are taught etiquette skills such as how to properly dress for a formal meal, set the table, and behave with appropriate manners.
The program is celebrating its 8th year of encouraging Philadelphia’s most impressionable young ladies in West Philadelphia, North Philadelphia and Northeast Philadelphia, to aim higher for their future. Since its inception, the Be Your Best Program has had 115 graduates, more than 70 speakers and over 150 contributors.
