img_7889Hundreds of families in need were treated to a Christmas extravaganza thanks to our friends at Wells Fargo.

Wells Fargo partnered with The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia to host a huge holiday party at Xfinity Live! for 150 local families, approximately 400 individuals, on Friday, December 23. The fun and festive event turned Xfinity Live into a Christmas fantasy land. Partnering with Police Athletic League for new PAL center in Grays Ferry

PAL recently opened its 18th community center in the city. This one is being operated out of The Salvation Army’s Central Corps Community Center at 3225 Reed Street in Grays Ferry. She’s My Sister 5K to support anti-human trafficking efforts

14559978_10154367415729473_5555204431346173591_oSome 200 runners and walkers hit the road on Saturday October 1 for the second annual She’s My Sister Human Trafficking Awareness 5K. The event, organized by Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, aimed to raise awareness and to support The Salvation Army’s local anti-human trafficking efforts.

Representatives from Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, The Salvation Army, local law

enforcement as well as other key members of the community participated in the race in

Fairmount Park. Fundraising by Enon’s anti-human trafficking ministry, along with all proceeds from the event, directly support The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia’s New Day to Stop Trafficking program.

500 Roll-Up Sleeves for a Day of Service

img_7013Despite a deluge of rain to kick off the morning – an army of volunteers descended on The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia on September 19. 500 employees of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) put their regular office jobs to the side, rolled up their sleeves and volunteered their time and talents for a Day of Service. PwC volunteers worked on projects at six Salvation Army building across the city – including painting the iconic Salvation Army red kettles, landscaping and grounds clean-up, building maintenance, warehouse cleaning and sorting of holiday toys, as well as fun and interactive activities with older adults living at Salvation Army senior housing complexes. Heading Back to School with Supplies and Smiles

img_6590Youth living at The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia’s Red Shield Family Residence got quite a special party this week. The room was packed with new book bags, notebooks, markers, crayons, pencils and much more. Our friends at Philadelphia Gas Works conducted a collection drive over the summer. Employees generously donated back to school supplies for dozens of children living at Red Shield, a transitional housing program for approximately 41 families who are working towards self-sufficiency.
